Snakes or Rattlesnakes are animals native to the Weird West. They can be hunted and skinned for snake skins or superior snake skins, which can then be used to craft or upgrade snake scale vests. Among animals, snakes are unique in behavior as they sometimes don't attack immediately but coil and are ready to defend themselves when threatened. Snake bites cause Poisoned status.
Snakes usually appear Hunting Grounds, when the the Protagonist camps in a desert or swarm areas. They also appear in large numbers during the Serpent's Mouth Random Encounter. The murals in this encounter suggest snakes were used as a sacrificial or execution method by an indigenous people. They also show that these people harvest venom from snakes.
Trivia[]
- For some reason snake bites don't cause any damage to Pigmen. Because of this and pigmen's natural immunity to Poison, snakes are virtually harmless to them.
- The symbol of the Fighting Pit on the world map is a rattlesnake though it is not clear where the association comes from.
