Horse Promo Art

Jane's mare, Calamity.

Horses can be found throughout Weird West and can be purchased from stables in towns. Horses speed up world map travel, help evading ambushes, and have saddlebags that can be used to store items. They also allow the Protagonists to escape locations even when there are enemies nearby. It's possible to steal horses to get away but stolen horses will run away upon reaching the next destination.

Horses are easily spooked and bolt away, eliminating a mean of escaping a location. They are also easily caught in crossfire, especially during ambushes, and die. Thus care should be taken to ensure the safety of horses, lest the protagonists have to buy new ones. If a horse dies or somehow disappears, buying a new horse will give the protagonist access to all the items stored in the previous horse.

A horse named Calamity is given to players who pre-ordered the game, along with some tools, bandages, and a Golden Ace of Spades. During the Bounty Hunter Journey, Jane Bell can go to Albright's Stead to claim the mare.

Trivia[]

  • As an easter egg, horses start exclaiming "Praise Yeb!" if the Reputation of the protagonist is at 100.
  • Enemies' horses can be startled to create confusion.
