Gavan or Gavan the Shepherd is an important figure in the Absolutionist scripture. According to the Absolutionist belief, hundreds of years ago, the spirits Yeb and Inun spoke to Gavan about the upcoming cycles of change and peace so that he can bring their message to his people, and help them "weather change and prosper from peace".[1][2] Upon his death, Gavan was "ushered into the afterlife by joyous spirits".[2]
Gavan was a sheep shepherd thus rams, ram horns, and other types of horns are predominant symbols of the Absolutionist Church. They use horns for various ceremonial purposes such as dispensing blessed water[3] and for blowing to receive bounty[4]. Some also carve pendants into the shape the horn of Gavan's ram.[5]
Trivia[]
